HARDWARE
TecQuipment's Curved Bars and Davits hardware consists of high-quality teaching equipment which lets students investigate four common davit or curved structures.
To perform experiments with curved bars and davits, students apply loads, monitor the horizontal and vertical deflection and compare with theoretical values.
The four structures are a quarter circle, a semicircle, a curved davit and an angled davit.
Two digital deflection indicators set at 90 degrees to each other measure horizontal and
vertical deflections. The two indicators are on a magnetic base which moves to any position on a backboard.
The Curved Bars and Davits hardware also includes a vernier, a student guide and a lecturer guide.

VIRTUAL EXPERIMENTS
The Curved Bars and Davits Virtual Experiments Software enables computer simulation of experiments working with or without the Structures teaching hardware. It expands the scope of experimentation beyond the limits of the hardware, allowing students to select the specimen shape (semicircle, quarter-circle, curved davit and angled davit) and the Young's modulus of the specimen material.
As loads are applied, the software displays both horizontal and vertical theoretical displacement values, plus a diagram showing the force on the specimen. Students can visualise, tabulate and graph data, reducing the time required for students to obtain, process and present results. This allows students to realistically, efficiently and conveniently investigate and compare the properties of a wide selection of curved bars and davits under varying loads.
The Virtual Experiments Software is available in a variety of multi-user and networked options, as well as single-user format.
